Will a pregnant female cat come into heat again?

The reproductive cycle of cats is complex and unique.

All kinds of exciting things happen during the estrus cycle, during pregnancy, or during labor.

Confirming that a pregnant female cat is in heat again is a thing that surprises and puzzles many people. She will behave exactly like a normal non-pregnant female cat in heat. Once mated by a male cat, she screams and rolls. Usually, this phenomenon occurs within three weeks after the first successful mating.

At first, you may wonder if she is getting pregnant. But after she gives birth, you will be sure she is pregnant.

??Can both copulations give birth? If a female cat copulates again three weeks after conception, she will become pregnant again. Will there be another litter? Most veterinarians and experts agree that’s impossible. Logically, the hormonal balance required to maintain a pregnancy would not allow the initiation of a new pregnancy.

What would have happened if the second mating did produce kittens: the first litter of kittens delivered normally, followed by a few premature babies.

So, if a premature baby is born, it must be caused by this reason.

The answer is: not necessarily.

Premature babies are born for a variety of reasons. Examples: uterine infection in female cats during pregnancy, poor embryo placenta attachment, imbalance of female cat hormone levels, etc.

Although we usually take it for granted that a fertilized egg develops into a kitten.

However, this process is very complicated, so any small “mistake” may lead to fetal abnormality.

Wonderful Story, A breeder once told me such a thing. After a normal pregnancy, a female cat returned to heat in the 3rd week and successfully copulated one more time. The due date came, and four kittens were born, 3 of which were developing typically, and one was immature. Judging by the color of the hair, the immature cat can only be the result of the second successful mating. This proves again: that it is possible for a fertilized egg to develop into a kitten after a second mating, but it will all be born in the form of a premature baby – which cannot be raised.

Many veterinarians believe that even if a pregnant female cat is in heat and mates, she will not become pregnant again because no eggs will be produced. But the truth may not be as simple as mentioned above.
