1. Symptoms of psittacosis infection in birds:
Take parrot as an example, after infection with psittacosis, it usually manifests as lethargy, loss of appetite or complete lack of appetite. Willing to eat, in addition to symptoms of diarrhea, stools are watery at first, gradually turning green and gray. In the mid-term, the feces of the parrot gradually decrease in volume and are more sticky, black or green, and often stick to the feathers of the parrot. When the disease progresses to the later stage, the feces of the parrot gradually become a large amount of water, and the eyes and nose have inflammatory secretions flowing out, accompanied by symptoms such as difficulty breathing, loud breathing, “clucking”, squatting still and other symptoms. 2. Symptoms of human infection with psittacosis:
After human infection with psittacosis, there is generally an incubation period of 1-2 weeks, and the longest can be about 45 days.
The clinical symptoms of people infected with psittacosis are more diverse, and some of them have a slower onset, and the body temperature will rise slowly within 3-4 days. However, most people who are infected with psittacosis have a rapid onset of symptoms, such as high fever, chills, and a slow pulse. In addition, they are accompanied by general malaise, fatigue, severe headache, and general muscle pain. Some severely ill patients are unable to stand normally because of muscle pain in the limbs and trunk.
