Daily knowledge of dog life

Normal body temperature

Generally, the temperature of the dog is measured by measuring the temperature of the anus.

According to healthy dogs, the normal body temperature of adult dogs is 37.5~38.5℃, and that of puppies is 38.5~39℃. Body temperature is usually high in the evening and low in the morning, with a daily difference of about 0.2~0.5°C.

The change in body temperature is an important feedback of the dog’s physical state. Whether it is rising or falling, it indicates that there is a problem with the dog’s body.

In contrast, hypothermia may be more dangerous than fever, and dogs are generally weaker at the time of hypothermia.

But there are more reasons for dogs to have a fever, and there may be a brief rise in body temperature after strenuous exercise.

So if the dog is walking or running to the pet hospital, it is generally recommended to rest for a period of time, and it will be more accurate to measure the body temperature after the dog has recovered.

Number of teeth

A normal adult dog has 42 teeth, incisors There are 6 upper and lower teeth, 2 upper and lower canine teeth, 8 upper and lower premolars, 4 upper and lower back molars, and 6 lower rear molars.

Generally, dogs begin to have teeth in about 20 days, and 28 deciduous teeth grow in about 2 months. Then they will change their teeth one after another. At about 8 months, all the deciduous teeth are replaced by permanent teeth. Most dogs are about 1 year old. 42 permanent teeth.

The double-row teeth we often hear about is actually a condition in which the deciduous teeth have not fallen out and the permanent teeth have grown out during the period of tooth replacement, which causes the dog to have Two rows of adjacent teeth.

Double-row teeth are not only unsightly, but also affect normal life more seriously. Food residues easily fall between the double-row teeth, which is difficult to clean, easy to form calculus, and then periodontal disease, etc., affecting eating. .

So when the feces collector finds that the dog has a tendency to have double rows of teeth, he should start to consider helping the dog’s deciduous teeth to fall out smoothly. You can try to use a molar stick or a big bone that can’t be swallowed to help it lose its teeth.

If you can’t use teeth grinding tools to help the dog get rid of the deciduous teeth, it is recommended to seek the help of a doctor to determine the severity of the double row of teeth and whether it needs to be corrected by tooth extraction.

Sleep time

Have you ever observed a dog’s sleep time in a day how long? Sometimes I take it out to play and it feels like it’s in good spirits 24 hours a day.

But in fact, dogs need more sleep than we think.

Generally adult dogs need 10~15 hours of sleep, and puppies need more sleep. 20 hours or so.

However, dogs don’t sleep like humans and need a complete rest period. They can achieve rest and recovery through fragmented light sleep.

Toes

Most dogs have 5 toes on each front foot and 4 on each rear foot only toes.

There is a very special toe on the forefoot – the suspensory toe, also known as the “wolf toe”,

The wolf toe is the product of degeneration, whether it is normal or not, the wolf toe is normal. There is no help and no effect on the normal walking of the dog.

It is to pay attention to trimming the nails. If the wolf toe nails are too long, it is easy to bend inward, and it is easy to miss the clipping and cause the nails to get stuck in the flesh.

Color discrimination

By Human By the standard, dogs should be considered color weak.

The top is the color that humans see, the bottom is the color that dogs see

In addition to black, white and gray, dogs can actually see blue and yellow. Red, orange, green, etc. are all close to gray in the eyes of dogs.

Someone must ask how the guide dog differentiates the traffic lights?

In fact, they do not distinguish between red and green, they distinguish between traffic lights by distinguishing the different brightness of gray.
