Dog interdigitatitis, also known as interdigital pyoderma, is a dermatitis that occurs between the toes of dogs. It occurs alone in one toe or between multiple toes. It may occur together, usually between the toes. or any part of the sole of the foot. Dogs have 5 toes, and the body is generally supported by the 2nd to 5th toes. There are sunken spaces between the toes and the soles of the feet. The pustules that appear in the inflammatory reaction between these toes are interdentalitis.
Clinically, the occurrence of toenitis is mostly related to the humid environment and inappropriate friction. Dog cages are only suitable for short-term transportation, and for long-term feeding management, dogs should be kept in captivity. For the treatment of interdental inflammation, timely removal of the cause and symptomatic treatment are critical. If the dog is not treated in time, coupled with the dog’s licking and biting of the affected area, the condition will often worsen, causing serious bleeding, lameness, and even sepsis. The prevention of interdental inflammation in dogs should start with feeding and management.
The most important thing is to keep the dog’s toes dry and the kennel ventilated and dry; Check the toes, find foreign bodies and trauma, and treat them in time to prevent the disease from further expanding; the dog’s toenails should be trimmed regularly to prevent interphalangitis caused by abnormal toenail growth; for sure, dogs must not be kept in cages for a long time.
Symptoms are: obvious redness and swelling of the skin between the toes, pain response to light pressure, frequent licking of the interdigital lesions; some dogs with damaged skin integrity and suppuration; some dogs with obvious lameness; There is no abnormality in appetite and body temperature.
Treatment: Immerse the limbs with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution every day, 3 times a day, for more than 3 minutes each time, with an interval of 4 hours. Potassium permanganate solution is prepared now. For dogs with suppuration in the affected area, the wound should be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide before soaking. Oral penicillin V potassium tablets for dogs, 250 mg/time, 2 times/day, with an interval of 6-8 hours. Use for 1 to 2 weeks.
