Symptoms of Demodex in dogs

I. Causes

It is considered normal to have a very small number of Demodex mites on dogs. When the mites multiply and multiply, they will show clinical symptoms of canine demodicosis.

 

II. Symptoms

There are different symptoms in different periods of illness:

Initial stage: generally Localized demodicosis; in the early stage of infection, dogs will have local hair loss, red skin, thickened and wrinkled skin, enhanced sebaceous gland secretion, covered with silvery white sticky bran-like scales, and itching symptoms.

Later stage: systemic demodicosis, which can spread all over the body, with blackheads, papules, small red bumps on the dog’s body, bleeding from the lesions, the skin turning light blue or copper, and a Bad smell. There is a secondary infection on the surface of the scab on the affected part, which can continue to develop into folliculitis and pyoderma.

Canine demodicosis is a kind of dog ringworm.
