How to tell if a parrot is healthy

How to judge whether the parrot is healthy

1. Observe whether the parrot’s eyes are bright. Under normal circumstances, a healthy parrot’s eyes should be bright and energetic, and there will be no redness, swelling, inflammation, half-open or closed eyes.

2. Observe the glossiness of the parrot’s coat

. The feathers of a consistently healthy parrot should be very bright and shiny when exposed to sunlight. But if the bird’s body is unhealthy, its feathers may appear sparse or fluffy. In addition, if the parrot has diarrhea, the feathers around the cloaca can easily be contaminated with its feces, and the overall plumage will appear dull.

3. Observe the condition of the parrot’s claws. The claws of parrots are also a major indicator for judging whether the parrots are healthy. The claws of healthy birds should be complete, without missing fingers, breakage, etc., and the grip is strong, and the nails of the claws are smooth and textured.

4. Observe whether the parrot’s call is loud. In general, healthy birds will have very loud and penetrating calls, and prefer continuous calls. Sick birds, on the other hand, do not like to call very much, and their voices are lower.

5. Observe the overall feeding environment. No matter how healthy a parrot looks, if it lives in a messy environment, it may carry some germs, and this kind of bird is not recommended to buy, so as not to infect healthy parrots at home after it is brought home.

We recommend that breeders choose healthy parrots based on the above aspects when selecting parrots. Finally, I would like to remind the owners: it is best to buy parrots in the same city or in a physical store. Because if the parrot is purchased from a different place, the parrot may have other adverse conditions such as stress on the way of long-distance transportation.
