I. Enteritis
Parrot enteritis is usually caused by unclean diet or drinking water. Parrots with enteritis will appear listless, frequent defecation, sticky feces and stick to the vicinity of the anus, etc. In severe cases, the sick bird will also have blood in the stool condition, and weight loss, body shape gradually lost weight.
Prevention methods for parrot enteritis: The owner usually needs to ensure that the feed and drinking water provided to the parrot are safe and clean, and regularly replace the feed and drinking water; clean the parrot’s food container and water container every day; do not directly provide For water feeding from the tap, boiled or purified water should be provided.
Treatment method: If the parrot accidentally suffers from enteritis, it needs to be transferred to a warm place in time, take measures to keep it warm, and then give it an appropriate amount of 25% glucose water, and it can be in the glucose Add a small grain of table salt to the water and feed it twice a day, with a dose of 0.5ml to 1ml each time. In the early stage of parrot disease, 10-20ml of medicinal carbon flake powder can be added to the sugar water; if the parrot’s condition is more serious, 0.2-1ml of dithrin can be added instead. Second, food stagnation
The parrot’s food stagnation is generally caused by the interruption of drinking water or eating too much coarse hard material and dry powder, and the feed cannot be stagnant in the parrot’s crop. In such cases, the sick bird usually exhibits a swollen crop, loss of appetite, and a sluggish expression. If the disease is delayed, it can lead to the death of the sick bird over time.
Prevention methods for parrot food stagnation: usually pay attention to ensure that the parrot has an adequate supply of drinking water, and use moderately soft and hard feed to feed the parrot.
Treatment: If the parrot’s food stagnation is mild, you can drip vegetable oil into the parrot’s crop, and then massage the sick bird’s crop down with your hands to soften the food in the parrot. It can enter the digestive tract smoothly; if the situation is more serious, gastric lavage should be used for treatment.
Three, constipation
Parrot constipation may be caused by long-term lack of fatty feed, vegetables and fruits or interruption of drinking water. When a parrot is constipated, it will show dry and hard stools, loose feathers, irritability, and often defecation-like but no stools are discharged.
Prevention methods: usually ensure that parrots have a balanced diet.
Treatment method: At the beginning of parrot constipation, 4 to 5 drops of vegetable oil or artificial salt solution can be directly poured into it to observe whether the constipation symptoms of the sick bird are improved.
