Why don’t turtles eat

The reason why the turtle does not eat

1. The ambient temperature is too low: general When the temperature is lower than 20 ℃, the turtle’s appetite will gradually decrease, or even become completely without appetite. Therefore, in the non-tortoise hibernation period, the pet should pay attention to keeping the temperature of the turtle breeding environment appropriate, and keep the temperature at 20~25℃. In addition, after the tortoise hibernates, it is also necessary to pay attention to analyze whether the tortoise is suitable for eating according to the temperature. Generally, the tortoise is not suitable for eating when the hibernation is just finished. When the temperature reaches a certain level, the tortoise will gradually start to eat. However, these are normal conditions and will not affect the health of the tortoise, so pet owners need not worry more than that.

2. Improper feeding of tortoises: if the tortoises are inadvertently fed mildew-proof and spoiled food or the feeding area is inconvenient to eat by mistake, it will also cause the tortoises not to eat.

3. Unfamiliar and uneasy about the environment: Turtles will not eat if they are unfamiliar with the environment. This usually occurs when the tortoise has just been brought home for breeding. When the tortoise comes to a new environment, the unfamiliar environment will make the tortoise feel unfamiliar, uneasy or even fearful. In this case, the tortoise will also not eat. Generally, after 3 to 7 days, the tortoise will gradually adapt to the new environment and will gradually start eating. In this case, the pet owner does not need to intervene too much, just ensure that the breeding environment is good, and let the turtle slowly adapt to the environment.

4. Not eating because of a certain disease: not eating is a common symptom of tortoise being sick or unwell. Turtles are suffering from white eye disease, pneumonia, gastrointestinal diseases, etc. of common diseases. Usually there will be loss of appetite, anorexia, and refusal to eat. If this happens, it is necessary to help the sick turtle cure the disease and restore its appetite in time.

5. Indigestion caused by turtles: Although turtles are suitable for eating nutrient-rich foods such as small fish, shrimps, screws, and raw meat, pet owners should cut the food when feeding them. Feed it carefully, and don’t feed the turtle too much meat and other indigestible food at one time, otherwise it will easily lead to indigestion and the turtle will not eat. Be sure to control the feeding amount.

We have analyzed the reasons why tortoises do not eat. I hope that all pet owners who breed tortoises will pay attention to raising tortoises reasonably and prevent them from getting sick.
