1. Rabbit general conjunctivitis
Causes of pathogenesis: Rabbit general conjunctivitis refers to the infection caused by bacteria other than Pasteurella conjunctival inflammation caused by bacteria.
Symptoms: Rabbits generally do not sneeze or sneeze only when they eat or drink. Sick rabbits will secrete eye mucus or white pus-like secretions, frequently shed tears, and wet the hair at the corners of the eyes, with obvious tear marks, obvious swelling of the eyelids, obvious redness and swelling at the edge of the eyes, shame, and dare not open the eyes, showing a half-squinted shape.
Treatment method:
1. Use tobramycin eye drops
for treatment, which can be purchased at pet pharmacies, and drops 6 times a day for sick rabbits.
2. If the sick rabbits secrete too much tears, they need to use normal saline, that is, sodium chloride solution, to help them clean their eyes once a day.
The method of eyewash is as follows:
Rinse the rabbit’s eyes with normal saline, firstly, the rabbit should be fully opened The upper eyelid of the rabbit can be pulled back, and then the tissue in the eyelid is fully rinsed with normal saline, and the upper eyelid can be loosened after rinsing. Then rinse the lower eyelid of the rabbit, pinch the lower eyelid and pull it out, and inject normal saline into the gap between the eyeball and the anterior corner of the lower eyelid to rinse, usually a lot of pus can be rinsed out until the rinsed water is no longer cloudy Rinse can be stopped. After rinsing, take care to dry and smooth the hair around the eyes with a dry paper towel.
Why do you need to wash your eyes: When a rabbit suffers from severe eye disease, its eyes secrete a lot of secretions. If these secretions are not flushed out in time, it is easy to cause blockage or inflammation of the nasolacrimal duct, and the treatment will be more troublesome. Therefore, when there are more secretions in the eyes of the rabbit, it is necessary to flush the eyes of the rabbit. .
Second, Pasteurella conjunctivitis in rabbits
Cause: rabbit eyes are infected with multi-killer Conjunctivitis caused by Pasteurella. The disease usually occurs after rhinitis in rabbits. The Pasteurella bacteria in the nose get into the eyes for some reason.
Symptoms: Rabbits will keep sneezing, frequent tears and milky white secretions, moist hair at the corners of the eyes, generally no symptoms of eyelid edema, slight redness and swelling around the eyes, etc.
Therapeutic methods:
1. Intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of ceftiofur sodium for animals was administered to the sick rabbits for 7 consecutive days.
2. Use tobramycin eye drops to drop the eyes of the sick rabbits, 6 times/day.
3. After diluting with 5% povidone-iodine solution at a ratio of 1:200 every day, wash the eyes of rabbits with the same method as above.
Reminder:
Pastemonella rabbits conjunctivitis is mostly secondary to Rabbit rhinitis, if the rabbit’s rhinitis cannot be cured, then Pasteurella rabbit conjunctivitis cannot be cured well, so in order to treat Pasteurella rabbit conjunctivitis well, it is necessary to treat rabbit rhinitis at the same time.
