There is a lack of dietary fiber in the feed fed to the tortoise; 2. The tortoise swallows foreign bodies, and the foreign body cannot be digested normally in its stomach; 3. The activity of the tortoise is insufficient; 4. The breeding environment conditions are poor, etc.
Generally, a turtle can be judged as constipated if it does not defecate for a long time. If a turtle is found to have constipation symptoms, the pet should help the sick turtle solve it in time to prevent the sick turtle’s constipation symptoms from aggravating and further developing into intestinal obstruction.
Second, how to solve the problem of turtle constipation
1. Help sick turtle Moisturizing the bowels and defecation: Feed the sick turtle with constipation symptoms of edible sesame oil at a dose of 30-50mL/1; or feed the sick turtle with laxatives such as Maren Pill and Sanhuang Pian to relieve the sick turtle’s constipation problem.
2. Enema treatment method: Prepare an appropriate amount of alkaline soapy water, keep the water temperature at 30℃, and then pour it from the cloaca of the sick turtle. Or you can use Kaisailu enema for sick turtles, go to the pharmacy to buy children’s Kaisailu, 10mL/piece, 4-5 pieces each time. After the sick turtle discharges the feces, it is changed to 2 enemas each time, and the sick turtle discharges the feces and then continues the enema for 2 days.
3. Take mummy love or lactobacillus tablets to the sick turtle to help it regulate the intestinal flora.
4. If the sick turtle still has symptoms of constipation after using the above method, it is recommended to take it to the pet hospital in time to help promote bowel movements and restore appetite, and inject it into the muscle at the same time. In addition, if the tortoise has severe constipation symptoms and even develops tortoise gastroenteritis or intestinal obstruction and other diseases, additional treatment methods are required:
