How to treat guinea pig cold, bronchitis, pneumonia, and other diseases

Although diseases such as guinea pig cold, bronchitis, and pneumonia are very similar, the treatment methods for these three diseases are very different. Today I will detail the treatment methods for diseases such as guinea pig cold, bronchitis, and pneumonia.

The treatment of guinea pig cold

Guinea pig cold is easy to cure if treated in time. Still, if it is not treated in time, it is easy to develop secondary bronchitis and pneumonia, which increases the difficulty of treatment. In particular, the guinea pig cold, which is old and weak, will turn into bronchitis or pneumonia disease faster if it is not treated in time. Some elderly guinea pigs even began to show insignificant cold symptoms in the morning and developed pneumonia in the afternoon.

Treatment: If guinea pigs are found to have the above symptoms, antibiotics, enrofloxacin, and sulfamethazine should be used to treat guinea pigs. But be careful with the dosage. Generally, the injection volume of sulfamethazine for adult guinea pigs is 0.1ml, or an appropriate dose can also be selected according to the weight of the guinea pigs.

The treatment of guinea pig bronchitis

Bronchitis is a very serious disease in guinea pigs and must be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. Although guinea pig bronchitis disease generally does not cause the death of guinea pigs, it is easy to further develop into pneumonia and aggravate the disease, so it is necessary to treat the sick guinea pigs as soon as possible.

Treatment method: The treatment method of guinea pig bronchitis mainly includes two aspects, one hand, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, inhibiting inflammation;

For the treatment of bronchial inflammation, you can refer to the treatment mentioned above methods of using antibiotics for colds. Still, the dosage is higher than that for colds and even needs to be doubled. Although the effect of oral medication is relatively slow, it can also play a specific therapeutic role.

In addition, for the treatment of expectorating phlegm and relieving cough, if there is not much phlegm, the guinea pig can be fed with Kebiqing medicine to relieve it. However, if there is a lot of phlegm, ammonium chloride should be used for treatment, and the specific dosage should be used according to the dosage in the instructions.

Three, the treatment of guinea pig pneumonia

Pneumonia is also a very serious disease in guinea pigs. If the guinea pigs are not treated in time, the sick guinea pigs may die due to hypoxia within 2 to 3 days of the onset of pneumonia, and the disease will not heal itself.

Treatment methods: The treatment of guinea pig pneumonia is more complicated, but the primary treatment still requires antibiotics. Inject enrofloxacin into sick guinea pigs, determine the injection volume according to the instructions, inject twice a day, and use Shuanghuanglian medicine for treatment; the injection volume is 20-30ml/kg body weight, and the therapeutic effect of intravenous drip better.

In addition, if the guinea pig still has symptoms of breathing difficulties, it needs to be injected with aminophylline to relieve it. The above treatments are not suitable for home use; it is best to leave it to a professional veterinarian for treatment.

Finally, a reminder to pet owners: no matter whether the guinea pig has a cold, bronchitis, or pneumonia, once the guinea pig is found to be suffering from the above diseases, the pet owner should pay attention to it take it seriously. In the case of multiple guinea pigs being raised together, once one of the guinea pigs is found to be sick, the sick guinea pig must be isolated to prevent it from spreading the disease to other healthy guinea pigs. During the treatment of guinea pigs, it is also necessary to give them more companionship and care so that they can rely on and attach themselves, improving the probability of a cure.
