I. Morphological characteristics of Arowana
Arowana has two types, the golden dragon with the back and the golden red tail, and the golden dragon with the back and the golden dragon are very similar in appearance, especially when they are young At times, it is difficult to tell them apart. However, as the over-backed golden dragon and the red-tailed golden dragon continue to grow, the difference between the two will become more and more obvious. For example, the golden color of the golden dragon over the back has a tendency to converge from the back to the two sides after crossing the fifth row of scales. The golden color of the red-tailed golden dragon does not cross the fifth row; the base of the rear three fins of the red-tailed golden dragon has only a few golden scales, while the base of the rear three fins of the golden dragon has many fine scales, and they are arranged neatly .
Second, the purchase points of arowana
The upper 1/3 of the dorsal fin and caudal fin of arowana should have no black or dark brown; the remaining 2/3 of the caudal fin It is orange-red, while the anal and pelvic fins are also orange-red, and the pectoral fins are translucent. The scales of the arowana should sparkle and glow bluish-purple when illuminated from the side of the fluorescent light. The golden scales of the red-tailed arowana generally only grow to the fourth row, and the golden dragon over the back can grow to the fifth row. And the scales of the over-the-back arowana will be more dazzling than the scales of the red-tailed arowana at any time. Therefore, when the over-the-back golden arowana and the red-tailed golden arowana are juxtaposed, the over-back golden arowana always looks more brilliant and dazzling. When the Golden Dragon is turning, it usually shows its strong background color, no matter whether its background color is blue, green or gold; the Golden Dragon with red tail will also reveal the background color when turning, but the depth is far less than that of the Golden Dragon. .
Three, the breeding method of arowana
The broodstock of arowana selected for breeding should meet the following conditions : Robust physique, no disability or disease, bright color, crystal clear, smooth and tidy scales, pure strain, stable swimming posture, complete fins without defects, etc. It is also recommended to select broodstock according to the ratio of one female to one male to ensure sufficient sperm count of arowana and improve the fertilization rate. In addition, try to choose male arowanas that are 6-8 years old and have a body length of 50-60cm; and female arowanas that are 7-9 years old and have a body length of 40-50cm. Note that when the arowana spawns, they must not be disturbed, otherwise the male arowana will be unwilling to release sperm, thus affecting the fertilization of the eggs. Therefore, during the breeding season of arowana, special attention should be paid to creating an absolutely quiet environment for them. Avoid changes in the environment that cause the arowana to startle and eat all of its eggs. In fact, the breeding methods of different varieties of arowana are similar. The breeding method of golden arowana is the same as that of silver arowana. For the specific breeding method, please refer to my previous introduction to the breeding method of silver arowana.
