I. Causes of yellow urine disease in young rabbits
1. The female rabbit suffers from mastitis, and the milk contains a lot of bacteria and toxins such as Staphylococcus. The pups inhale the female rabbit’s milk and cause infection, leading to the disease.
2. The udder of the female rabbit is contaminated by germs, and the young rabbits ingest the germs when sucking breast milk, which leads to poisoning and acute enteritis. Symptoms such as fishy yellow watery stools, weakness of limbs, lethargy, gray skin, dull fur, and even death.
The young rabbit was poisoned after suffering from yellow urine disease. The whole body was blue-purple, the stool was yellow and watery, the urine was yellow, and the hair around the anus was wet with yellow watery stools. Fishy and unpleasant odor, while the sick rabbits are lethargic and soft, and their bodies gradually become thin. The course of yellow urine disease in young rabbits is generally 2 to 3 days. If it is not treated in time, it is easy to die due to dehydration.
2. Prevention and treatment of yellow urine in young rabbits
1. Yellow diarrhoea in young rabbits should be mainly prevented, and attention should be paid to keeping the rabbit house, rabbit cage and utensils clean and dry; before the mother rabbit gives birth, put some soft, clean and dry bedding in the farrowing box; before the mother rabbit gives birth , Disinfect cages, production boxes, bedding, etc. or place them in the sun.
2. Before and after the female rabbit gives birth, appropriately reduce the feeding amount of concentrated feed, and at the same time appropriately increase the feeding amount of green and juicy feed, to prevent the female rabbit’s milk secretion from being too much or too thick, causing mastitis.
3. During the lactation period of the female rabbit, check the lactation status of the female rabbit in time. Once the female rabbit’s breast is found to have abscess or induration, treat the female rabbit immediately. If the baby rabbit accidentally bites the nipple of the mother rabbit, give it anti-inflammatory treatment in time. If the female rabbit develops mastitis, it should be isolated and treated in time, and the pups will be handed over to other healthy lactating female rabbits for surrogacy or artificial feeding.
4. In order to prevent the occurrence of mastitis in female rabbits, compound trimoxazole tablets can be given orally to the female rabbit 3 days before and after giving birth, twice a day, 1 tablet each time. Or you can also inject streptomycin intramuscularly once a day, 1 ml each time, for 3 consecutive days, one week before delivery, which can effectively prevent doe mastitis. Alternatively, 2 ml of ephedra injection can be injected intramuscularly in the female rabbit after giving birth. Generally, the puppies fed by the female rabbits that have been injected with ephedra develop normally, and the female rabbits are not prone to mastitis during lactation.
Third, the treatment of jaundice in young rabbits
young rabbits Yellow urine disease has the characteristics of rapid onset and rapid death, so once the young rabbits are found to have yellow urine disease, the young rabbits and female rabbits should be isolated and treated immediately. First, the mother rabbit’s thick milk was squeezed clean, and then the udder was wiped clean with normal saline. If abscess or ulceration occurs around the nipple of the female rabbit, it is necessary to disinfect the nipple and the surrounding area of the female rabbit with iodine tincture, and then use 0.25% procaine and penicillin solution for partial sealing treatment. The female rabbits were intramuscularly injected with Houttuynia cordata injection twice a day, 2-3 ml each time; at the same time, the female rabbits were orally administered with andrographis paniculata tablets, 3 times a day, 3 tablets each time, for 2 consecutive days.
For young rabbits with yellow urine disease, it is necessary to stop feeding the milk of the sick mother rabbit and take emergency rescue measures in time. Instill gentamicin injection into the mouth of the young rabbit, 3 to 4 drops each time, 3 to 4 times a day. Rabbits with mild disease can be rescued within 2 to 3 days of medication. Or it can also be treated by oral administration of Houttuynia cordata injection to young rabbits, 2 times a day, 1-1.5ml each time, and the sick rabbits can generally be cured 2-3 days after taking the medicine.
This is the end of my introduction to the prevention and control measures of yellow diarrhoea in young rabbits, hoping to bring help to rabbit breeders.
