Symptoms and Treatment of Feline Folliculitis

Folliculitis in cats is mainly caused by Staphylococcus intermedius and Peripheral inflammation can also be stimulated by itself or external factors. It will cause the skin of the affected area to become black, red and swollen, and the hair will become sparse. There are many small black spots at the root of the hair. If you wipe it with your hands, you will find that the hair is easily wiped off, and the skin on the part with black spots is obvious. It’s red and the cat will feel pain when rubbing it.

First, the parts prone to folliculitis

Head: distributed on the chin and lips, showing Small black slag.

Abdominal cavity: There are small black cinders in the abdominal cavity and around the nipple.

Tail feathers: The rear of the tail feathers extends from the base of the tail to 2/3 of the length of the tail. The coat

is always shiny and dirty.

Second, the method of treating mild folliculitis

1. Green tea, Although green tea is an alkaline substance, the owners who have tried it generally say that it will not have any obvious effect. The reaction is that you can wash the cat with warm green tea water, but the actual oil removal effect is not satisfactory to me.

2. Sulfuric acid soap, the effect is indeed obvious, but the smell is too pungent for cats. It is more troublesome to use every day. Once it is not cleaned, it is easy to be eaten by the cat, and the cat is in danger of being poisoned. Choose this soap as a tail cleanser when bathing your cat. Do not use when there is a wound on the affected area.

3. Alcohol, the effect is obvious and the effect is quick. Alcohol not only has a good bactericidal effect, but also inhibits oil secretion, which can accelerate the healing of the disease. But the smell of alcohol is really unpleasant. If the cat has a wound on the affected area, it will cause pain after smearing, so the cat will have a strong repelling force. It is recommended to dilute the alcohol concentration before giving it to cats.

4. The above three treatment methods are only suitable for the early treatment of folliculitis. When the above methods are ineffective, it is recommended to directly use Fonuoen skin spray and compound ketoconazole ointment for cats, which can effectively help Skin disinfection and bacteriostasis, eliminating anaerobic bacteria, alleviating skin diseases such as black chin of cats.

5. Pay attention to maintenance. After the cat’s tail suffers from folliculitis, the tail hair must be cut off, which is conducive to the penetration of ointments and sprays. Cats don’t like to be scratched by someone else’s tail. If you encounter a strong resistance during the treatment, do not hold the tail hard, as this may injure the cat.

Reminder: If you are not sure whether your cat has folliculitis, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian before treatment to avoid improper treatment methods to stimulate and damage the cat’s skin barrier!
