Symptoms and causes of cat stomatitis
The cat has poor appetite, unwillingness to eat, or salivation when eating, difficulty in chewing, and oral mucosal flushing, redness and swelling, and unpleasant breath during oral examination. Smell;
Severe stomatitis in cats may even cause blisters, erosions and ulcers of varying sizes on the oral mucosa, and varying degrees of redness and swelling on the gingival mucosa, the palate and the tongue band.
The etiology is currently unknown. Foreign clinical studies believe that the disease may be caused by immune mediation, and may be induced by some diseased viruses or bacteria. Cat stomatitis is not a serious disease, but it will recur if not treated properly.
How to cure cat stomatitis?
There are currently 2 methods. Medication, tooth extraction.
Drug therapy: cleaning (chlorhexidine), combined with antibiotics, hormone therapy.
(The hormone drugs are methylprednisolone, prednisone, etc. Hormone drugs need to be used under the guidance of a doctor. It is not recommended for pet owners to self-medicate cats, because hormone drugs have serious side effects)
Tooth extraction treatment: For cats with refractory stomatitis, extraction of premolars and molars can be adopted (in particularly severe cases, full-mouth extraction should be considered).
