Notes on changing the water for Arowana
1. Water trapping in advance
Water trapping in advance, remove the residual chlorine in the tap water before changing the water for the dragon fish. Generally, residual chlorine in tap water can be removed by exposure to sunlight, oxygen exposure, etc. It usually takes about 3 days to be trapped in water, and it is not advisable to be trapped in water for too long. The residual chlorine content in the new water is high, so it cannot be used for raising arowana, otherwise it will cause harm to the arowana
2. Avoid one-time, large water changes
During the breeding process The owner needs to maintain the stability of the feeding water, and must not replace a large amount of water in the fish tank
at one time, otherwise the water temperature and pH value in the fish tank will change drastically, which may cause the arowana to feel uncomfortable and refuse to eat. The water should be changed in small amounts several times to allow the arowana to gradually adapt to the new water. You can replace 1/8~1/6 of the water for the first time, and then change a small amount of water every other time. When changing the water, try to ensure a stable frequency such as once every two days or once every three days, maintain a relatively stable water quality, and give the dragon fish time to adapt to the environment. In addition, when changing the water, it is also necessary to keep the water temperature stable and control the temperature difference between the new water and the old water within 1°C.
3. The water changing action should be gentle and slow
When changing the water for the arowana, the owner must not move too much, and it is forbidden to generate a large water flow to directly wash the arowana. Otherwise, it will easily cause damage to the body surface of the dragon fish and increase the probability of infection. At the same time, be careful not to agitate the water body vigorously to prevent the water pressure from being too large, which may damage the internal tissues of the dragon fish. In addition, the water injection pipe should be placed at the bottom of the fish tank, and the water pipe mouth should be directed towards the tank wall to avoid the arowana being affected by the water flow rate as much as possible. This precaution is very important, and the owner should not underestimate the impact of water flow on the dragon fish.
4. Do not feed before and after changing the water
Do not feed the dragon fish for three hours before and after changing the water, If it happens to be rainy weather, you can temporarily feed on the day. Because Arowana usually has a loss of appetite or no appetite after the water body changes, and it needs to gradually adapt to the water environment before eating. Changing the water will inevitably change the water quality, even if the changes are small, so you can feed the arowana for a period of time, and then feed it after the water body is stable and the arowana is fully adapted.
5. Pay attention to observe the status of the arowana after changing the water
Every time the new water is changed, the owner should pay attention to observe the status of the arowana, so as to find out the arowana in time. In case of discomfort caused by changing the water, give them corresponding help in a timely manner.
Many common diseases of arowana are related to water quality. Good and stable water quality can promote the healthy growth of arowana, which is also a necessary condition to ensure the healthy growth of arowana. Feeders must always pay attention to water quality issues and pay attention to the above water changes to ensure good and stable water quality and reduce the occurrence of dragon fish diseases.
