Bianmu is smart because it possesses strong learning ability, comprehension, a gentle personality, loyalty, good obedience, and can follow the master’s instructions very well, which are advantages brought about by its genes. Bianmu is a shepherd dog. Shepherding entails both physical and mental exertion. The ancestors of Bianmu dogs engaged in active thinking and utilized their cognitive abilities during the process of herding sheep, thereby enhancing their intellectual capacity. This intelligence has been passed down through generations, thus resulting in the modern border collie being highly intelligent.
There are two ways to explain Bian Mu’s intelligence. Initially, it might seem logical that the ancestors of Bian Mu were not as intelligent as the current breed. However, as Bian Mu is a shepherd dog, shepherding involves both physical and mental tasks. The ancestors of the border collie, while herding sheep, continuously employed cognitive abilities, thereby enhancing their intelligence over generations. This accumulated intelligence is what makes the modern border collie so smart.
Tiansheng argued that it is common knowledge that dogs are descendants of wolves. Tiansheng’s essence is that when the first border collie appeared in the world, it displayed remarkable intelligence.
